You’ve probably seen enough Music Mondays to know what does go into them. Today, I’m going to briefly list what doesn’t.
#1: Any video where the messee is under 16. Admittedly this is site policy, just thought I’d reiterate it.
#2: Any video where the messee is now deceased. I don’t care if there’s great videos of people like Left-Eye from TLC, Amy Winehouse or Nicole Bogner from Visions of Atlantis; I don’t feel right putting them up.
#3: Exclusively male messings. Well, the blog is about female gungings, right? 😉
#4: Wetlook with some exceptions. Towards the end of 2012 it was apparent that there was a LOT of wetlook in music videos out there to the point it was a bit rare to have anything else on a Music Monday. So, I’m curtailing it to:
Videos I particularly like (like today),
People who get wet in at least two videos (such as Evanescence’s Amy Lee),
Or people who get messy as well as wet (Eleanor Philips from Supersister, for instance), not necessarily in different circumstances (such as Amy Studt).
So, here’s today’s exception to the rule: The Go-Go’s, with their video for “Our Lips Are Sealed”. It’s a very simple video, where the band go driving around (rather carelessly), end up at a fountain and start having fun in it. As for why I like it: We need more older videos, dammit! Most of the stuff on here is from the 2000s or 2010s.
Oh, and the song is a massive guilty pleasure.
