A TellyGunge Story Timeline?

I’ve been wondering something lately: Is there a possible way to put the stories featured on this blog into a chronological order? If so, what would it be?

First off, all of my stories featuring Suzi and/or The Kayotics can be put into a chronological order, though Suzi’s Christmas Carol (or SCC) complicates things a little thanks to the ghostly time travel thing. It’s also a fact that SSD takes place after any and all Top of the Slops (TOTS) stories. So right now, we’ve got this:

SCC: Past -> TOTS Prologue -> TOTS 1 -> Secrets -> TOTS 2 -> Becky’s Game -> SSD Prologue -> SSD 1 -> SSD 2 -> Suzi’s Interview -> SSD 3 -> SSD 4 -> SSD 5 -> SSD 6 -> SSD 7 -> SCC’s bed scenes -> SCC: Present -> SSD Christmas (unfinished)

SCC: Future takes place in a timeline that Suzi averts the creation of by allowing SSD Christmas to go ahead.

Since I wrote all those, I can assure you that is the official order.

But then, there’s references to and appearances from my characters in other stories. The Kayotics got a shout-out in Summer School II, while Suzi showed up in The Ramp. Let’s look at the former.

Summer School takes place in… well, the summers of two consecutive years. SSD 7 is the Hallowe’en special and, if it doesn’t take place on Hallowe’en itself, takes place near it. Prior to this, there’s no way the public would have any reason to associate The Kayotics with gunge. This means one of two things:
1) Summer School II is before SSD 7. The person who put The Kayotics on is a legit fan of theirs before the WAM thing gets factored in, or…
2) Summer School II is after SSD 7.
Personally I think the latter is more likely. And since it takes place in the summertime, it’s also after the Christmas stories.

Summer School I is one year before, so it’s a case of counting the weeks backwards and finding where it takes place relative to the other SSDs. There’s a 1-week gap between 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 5-6 and 6-7, with a gap of three weeks between 4 and 5. Summer School would need to be approximately 8 weeks before SSD 7. This would put it roughly at the same time as SSD 1. Since it takes place over several weeks, I’ll put it around SSD 1, which gives us the following.

SCC: Past -> TOTS Prologue -> TOTS 1 -> Secrets -> TOTS 2 -> Becky’s Game -> SSD Prologue -> Start of Summer School I -> SSD 1 -> End of Summer School 1 -> SSD 2 -> Suzi’s Interview -> SSD 3 -> SSD 4 -> SSD 5 -> SSD 6 -> SSD 7 -> SCC’s bed scenes -> SCC: Present -> SSD Christmas (unfinished) -> Summer School II (unfinished)

Now for The Hayley Williams/Sierra Kusterbeck/Taylor Swift Ramp thing. It would need to be after the start of SSD, but at no particular part. Obviously the rest can take place at any point after SCC: Past. Then there’s the rest of the Emma and Kelly stories to work in.

This is assuming that all stories take place in the same “universe”. Then you’ve got the other series to work in. This is also assuming we can make a coherent timeline.

(Also, this would make Alex Hendry a time traveller.)

    I think when I mentioned the Kayotics poster in the Angels’ common room, I was mainly thinking that the Angels appreciated their music, although the gunge connection gives all the more reason, I suppose.

    Someone else who has travelled between stories: Lucinda Crow, who first appeared as presenter of the Gooseberry. In Summer School I, Erika is a big fan of Lucinda, having posters and other fan material in her quarters. Erika is also described ‘entertaining herself’ (ahem) while watching a subsequent episode of the Gooseberry. Lucinda also makes an appearance in the Tuition Free Show, and I’m planning another appearance of her in the hopefully not too distant future….

    In terms of the ramp on tour, it has to take place after SSD 6, since it takes place after Alex has been taken down and Suzi has her confidence back. To be honest though, I’ve never really thought of my stories in the same timeline as others, although the tour does sort of put it in the shared universe. In time, the stories mostly match the real world time, especially if you can spot a real world reference (usually Man Utd). In fact I even made fun of this in one of the Easter Eggs in Eddie versus Peter, noting how long that took to write, before I gave up and condensed it down.

    Oh, and Alex is most definitely a fourth wall traveller, not a fourth dimension traveller. After all, the only thing more powerful than Alex is someone who maybe created her, or gives no regard to the fourth wall.
