So, as you might or might not know, I’ve been working at gigs music festivals quite a bit this summer. Aside from music there’s a fair few things that festivals are known for, for better or worse – awful catering, mud, incredible amounts of drink being consumed… Oh, and one other thing – rain.
Yes, rain and music seem to go hand-in-hand so for this week’s Music Monday I’ve gone for a rainy theme. The first part is the Torrential Triple. Three videos that haven’t been posted on here yet that make use of rain in them. By no means is this exhaustive, as you’ll see in part 2.
The first video is from the Pussycat Dolls. As those who saw the music video compilation know, Nicole Scherzinger did a song called Wet, which encouraged the listener to get wet with Nicole. Thing is, she didn’t in the video. No, the one she got wet in was one from when she was in the Pussycat Dolls, alongside her… uhm… bandmates. Personally I like the part at 2:42 when the rain starts. I can kinda tolerate the rest.
The second is another name you should be familiar with – Supersister. Why? Well, one of their members was on Live and Kicking and got gunged. The gunging itself is from 4:52, but if you want to see the whole scene (I know a few people like that) it’s here.
Anyway, rain. Uhm, there’s not much I know about Supersister other than that they’re from Sheffield and that searching for info on them gets you an unrelated Dutch band… Oh, and they had a song called Summer Gonna Come Again which was okayish I guess? Rain starts coming down at 3:10.
I would say that the reason I can’t find much about them is that they didn’t have many fans. That’s clearly untrue though.
Finally, 2 Unlimited. Apparently there’s nothing like the rain. I’m sure they’re right but I’m not that keen on the song. Same for most of the songs this week really. Wetness of sorts throughout including women swimming underwater in dresses.
Parts 2 and 3 later this evening. Some rain-related reposts then something completely different.
